The only true false positive I've seen in recent years aside from this one is with pirated adobe software. It's a general statement that packing malware with pirated software is a prime vector for infecting computers. You will either have to, from time-to-time, re-Allow the qbittorrent client to run (you'll find it in the "Virus and threat protection" -> "Current threats" -> "Protection history" section, or, for something permanent but a bit more risky because of the actual PUAs, you'll disable for good the "Potentially unwanted app blocking" from the "App & browser control" -> "Reputation-based protection/Reputation-based protection settings" -> "Potentially unwanted app blocking" to either off or just "Block apps" and/or "Block downloads". It was first done so only on the Enterprise versions, but now, on Home editions as well. In fact it's a strong stance on Microsoft's side to flag all torrent clients as PUA. In order to avoid installing such PUA / PUP, you have to always install the main software by choosing the advanced/custom options." ( The setup package is clean, so it must be a false positive on Microsoft's side. "A PUA / PUP (potentially unwanted application / potentially unwanted program) is a software that may be unwanted on the PC and sometimes comes bundled with freeware software. "Potentially Unwanted Applications (PUAs) are unwanted software programs that come bundled in legitimate free software programs as a package." ( us.) Windows Defender Antivirus detects and removes this threat. ![]() The only details I can get, are from Microsoft's malware encyclopedia, which is not really helpful: Tried redownloading 4.3.3 from the official site, now the installer was flagged as well. I had the version 4.3.3, so I installed an older 4.3.1 and immediately quarantined as well. Today, my qBittorrent was quarantined by Microsoft Defender because " This program has potentially unwanted behaviour.". r/VPNTorrents /r/Proxies /r/VPN /r/OpenVPN VPN & proxy usage and troubleshooting Indexers and Sitesītcache BTSOW (alt domains. r/VideoEditing /r/ffmpeg /r/HandBrake /r/MakeMKV /r/MKVToolnix Topics on editing/converting video r/Seedboxes /r/VPS Cloud torrent services and seedboxes ![]() r/PiratedGames /r/GamesPirated Pirating games, game cracks, & general game piracy r/OpenSignups Open signups for torrent sites r/OpenTrackerProject Open torrent trackers r/HTPC /r/Emby /r/Jellyfin /r/Kodi /r/Plex /r/VLC x265/HEVC/4K/Subtitle troubleshooting/playback, General playbackĪlphaReign /r/Magnetissimo RIVR Self hosted search/Torrent indexer scraper r/P2P /r/P2PTech General non-torrent P2P/file sharing r/DigitalPiracy /r/Piracy Pirating specific content, cracks, scene groups, scene and uploader releases/naming/quality/size, copyright trolls, DMCA notices, & general piracy r/CyberLaws /r/YRO Online copyright law & legal news r/AndroidQuestions /r/AppleHelp /r/VLC Media playback/subtitle/etc. Sites with RSS feeds legal/public domain?Ĭlient for seeding thousands of torrents?Ĭan't open RARBG website?
